Prices are clear and competitive and include photos to take home and an iBabyScan video recording that can be shared with family and friends.
Dating or early pregnancy viability scan
This scan is available for anyone who is 6-11 weeks pregnant and feels a bit worried or just wants to make sure that all is well with the early pregnancy. This scan is particularly important if there is any vaginal bleeding, pain, history of early miscarriage or reason to suspect an ectopic pregnancy. The Birth Company recommends early pregnancy viability scanning for all pregnant women over the age of 35.
Nuchal translucency scan
The Nuchal translucency scan to determine the risk of a particular baby having a chromosomal abnormality such as Down's Syndrome or to detect major fetal abnormalities, is highly time specific and must be carried out between 11 weeks 2 days and 13 weeks 6 days of the pregnancy. The Birth Company is able to offer very flexible appointments to ensure that this scan is carried out at the correct time and includes screening for a nasal bone. In the eventuality that a woman receives a high risk result, a consultant is on hand to discuss any options including the latest non-invasive Harmony Test.
20-week anomaly scan
This important scan is a detailed examination of the
fetus and placenta. Although available on the NHS, many women prefer to
have a more detailed private 20-week anomaly scan in a calm and
relaxing environment, with known consultants and sonographers. Second
opinions and expert reassurance are also available.
Reassurance scan
The NHS offers an ultrasound scan at 12 weeks of
pregnancy and another at 20 weeks. Unless there are problems such as
bleeding, another scan is not offered. The Birth Company recognises
that many women find having more details about their pregnancy
reassuring, and can scan to ensure that the baby is developing as
expected at any stage after 12 weeks of pregnancy. A scan to find out
the sex of the baby can be performed from 16 weeks onwards. Reassurance
scans are strongly recommended if the baby's movements reduce or there
is bleeding or loss of amniotic fluid.
Cervical scan
A ultrasound scan of the cervix is recommended between
17 and 21 weeks of pregnancy for women who have had a previous premature
delivery, surgery affecting the cervix or are experiencing a loss of
amniotic fluid.
Fetal wellbeing scan
Performed any time after 24 weeks of pregnancy, the
fetal wellbeing scan can estimate the birth weight and size of a baby,
check that the baby is moving normally, measure the amount of amniotic fluid
and the position of the placenta and assess the blood flow to the baby.
It is recommended for any woman who has concerns about her
pregnancy. A wellbeing scan between 26 and 32 weeks of pregnancy is the
best time to capture a 4D image of the baby's face, which is available
to parents as a picture, on DVD or via iBabyScan.
How can I get a private pregnancy scan at The Birth Company?
The Birth Company is able to offer expert pregnancy scanning at convenient times, including early morning, evening and weekend appointments. Same day appointments are also available, although it is advisable to phone first to confirm.
