Tina Perridge, B.Sc. (Hons.), DipHE, RM, DMS is an experienced independent midwife (as well as a mother of four), with a particular interest in postnatal care.
Tina has her own private midwife service specialising in postnatal care called the Independent Postnatal Midwifery Service, and she is also part of the South London Independent Midwives, along with Annie Francis and Teresa Arias.

Understandably most women find they focus strongly on the labour and birth of their baby, while the postnatal period is often overlooked by everybody. Yet these early days can be a huge shock to most couples as they grapple with lack of sleep, anxiety, uncertainty and often conflicting advice. Reliable, consistent midwifery care can make a huge difference and help you to enjoy these early days.
Visits are suggested on a daily basis for the first five days and then at intervals for two weeks or six weeks. Each visit is unhurried, allowing you time to discuss worries or concerns.
All medical checks are carried out on you and your baby on a regular basis. Health checks carried out on the baby include monitoring wellbeing through observation of heartbeat, respiration, temperature, tone and behaviour.

Pregnancy and antenatal period care, South London
You will be cared for by two midwives ensuring continuity of care which promotes a close and supportive relationship. During the first appointment, a full medical and obstetric history is taken with ample time for a discussion on which screening and diagnostic tests are available to you in addition to any queries or concerns you may have.
During the antenatal period visits will be monthly until 28 weeks, two weekly between 28 and 36 weeks and weekly until your baby is born. Each visit lasts about an hour, checking all is well with you and your baby and enabling you to plan for the birth and the first few weeks of parenthood.

Becoming a parent can be demanding but with good support it can also be a wonderful experience. South London Independent Midwives’ postnatal care aims to enable you, while you recover, to develop the skills of breastfeeding and to settle into a new life with your baby. They will visit daily for the first 5-7days and then gradually space out visits as you gain in confidence and are always available by phone or pager if you have any concerns or anxieties.
