Lansdell Suite, St Thomas' Hospital: Private maternity hospitals in London

The Lansdell Suite is a well established private facility based within the maternity unit at St Thomas’ Hospital in central London. The private maternity unit is equipped to deal with both uncomplicated and complex deliveries and there is 24 hour access to the most modern equipment, latest technology and specialist neonatal care facilities.

 

Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals is one of the largest hospital trusts in the country and is also part of the internationally recognised King’s Health Partners, an academic health sciences centre achieving clinical excellence where clinical governance and the highest levels of patient care and safety are of paramount importance.

There are currently four highly experienced consultant obstetricians who offer a complete care package throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period. Antenatal care – consultant led screening and scanning

Private antenatal consultations, antenatal screening tests and scanning can all be booked via the Lansdell Suite. The consultants may arrange to see you at St Thomas’ Hospital, in their private clinics in town or in Chelsea. A full range of antenatal screening facilities is also available from the renowned Fetal Medicine Unit.

Obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound

A full range of ultrasound services is available from a consultant who has specialised in this area. This includes screening for Down Syndrome (nuchal scans), anomaly and growth scans, gynaecology and where necessary transvaginal scans. Prenatal testing by chorion villus sampling (CVS) and amniocentesis is also available. All machines are state of the art and can incorporate 3 and 4D scans by arrangement. 

Intrapartum care

During labour you will have access to the latest facilities including the Home from Home and Hospital Birth Centre (depending on your requirements), 2 birthing pools, relaxing garden room and 2 obstetric theatres. All birthing rooms are spacious and have en-suite facilities.

 

Those booking under the care of a consultant obstetrician will have the care of a midwife and their consultant during labour and delivery.

 

24 hour anaesthetic cover for epidural pain relief is also available. Epidural analgesia is state of the art, low dose and patient controlled.

Postnatal care

Following the birth of your baby, postnatal care is provided in single en-suite rooms on the Lansdell Suite. To add to your comfort each room is equipped with a television, radio, telephone and complimentary toiletries.  All meals and non-alcoholic drinks are also included in the standard package price.

 

The dedicated team of midwives and support staff will support you in caring for and feeding your baby. They will give you advice on breastfeeding and can also provide advice on bottle-feeding if required.

 

During your stay, your obstetrician will arrange for a paediatrician to visit you and examine your baby. This will give you the opportunity to discuss your baby’s health and future development. 

 

Following your discharge from the Lansdell Suite a midwife will be arranged to visit you at home until your baby is 10 days old or up to 28 days if required. Your midwife will then discharge you into the care of your Health Visitor and General Practitioner.
