Diagnostic imaging at 9 Harley Street
Phoenix Hospital Group has invested in some of the latest high specification imaging equipment on the the market.
They have MRI, CT and ultrasound scanners as well as a digital plain X-ray room. All of the equipment has been supplied by Siemens and, in typical Siemens style, it combines high build quality with outstanding imaging.
CT scanning
CT scanning, sometimes called CAT scanning, is a totally painless X-ray test that helps clinicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. CT imaging uses special X-ray equipment to produce a number of images of the inside of the body. These images are computer processed to produce cross-sectional pictures of the area being studied. CT scans provide greater clarity than conventional X-ray exams and allow doctors to see organs and soft tissues as well as bones.
MRI scanning
MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. A magnet combined with completely safe radio waves allow pictures to be generated by exciting part of the water molecules inside our body. MRI is totally painless and non-invasive. It involves no X-rays or other types of radiation and there are no known side effects.
X-rays
An X-ray examination is a simple and painless test that takes detailed pictures of the internal structures of your body. X-rays are a form of radiation energy able to pass through human tissue. The X-ray machine uses a tube to produce an X-ray beam which is carefully aimed on the part of the body being examined.
Ultrasound
An ultrasound image is produced by a machine that sends high frequency sound waves through the body and then records the echoes that return, and displays these on a screen. Ultrasound is an incredibly versatile imaging modality that is commonly used for almost any soft tissue area in the body. The main areas of imaging include organs of the abdomen, musculoskeletal, vascular and obstetrics.
