The Diagnostics and Imaging Department at The Wellington Hospital in London is one of the most up to date in the country and the largest of its kind in the UK private sector. The Hospital has just completed a £6 million investment programme both expanding and renewing many of the scanning and imaging facilities.
The Wellington Imaging Unit has a full range of state of the art equipment including the fastest 64-slice CT scanner available, two MRI scanners, a full range of X-Ray machines, Ultrasound equipment and Interventional Radiology facilities. The Unit is constantly working to improve and expand the services and has recently invested in a film-less system so doctors can view scans and X-rays etc on- line. This speeds up the time from diagnosis to treatment and ends delays caused by mislaid X-Rays.
The team
The Unit has a
team of 20 consultant radiologists, many of whom hold senior positions in some of London's renowned teaching hospitals, who are on hand to interpret and report on the results of a patient's CT scan, MRI scan, X-Ray or Ultrasound. They are backed by highly qualified specialist radiographers and nurses and a back office team who prepare reports of each diagnostic investigation.

The LightSpeed VCT scanner is a remarkable machine, paving the way for more accurate diagnosis of diseases and early warnings of potential problems. Its groundbreaking technology opens the door to new procedures while improving on the existing ones. Faster coverage with sub-millimetre resolution and shorter patient-breath-holds allow more robust and repeatable studies. This is critical in emerging procedures such as Coronary Angiographic studies.
