The Cancer Centre at London's Bupa Cromwell Hospital has recently undergone an over £9m upgrade. This investment includes the purchase of 2 TomoTherapy Hi·Art Systems® - the worlds most advanced radiotherapy treatment system and the first of its kind in the UK.
It is the first private hospital in the UK to offer the new Gemini PET/CT scanner - a powerful diagnostic imaging system - putting the Bupa Cromwell in the forefront of both diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients.
The unique "time of flight" technology of the PET/CT improves image quality as well as lowers scanning times. The scanner also acquires anatomical as well as functional scans at the same time.
The benefit of the new scanner is that it is able to identify disease in its early phase as well as when a more accurate staging is required for treatment management.
The Hospital offers a wide range of PET/CT diagnostic and staging facilities and have a team of over 25 Consultant Radiologists to read and interpret the varied range of diagnostic scans. All of the Consultants are drawn from the major London teaching hospitals and have considerable experience in their field of expertise.
