The Diagnostics and Imaging Department at The Wellington Hospital in London is one of the most up to date in the country and the largest of its kind in the UK private sector. The Hospital has just completed a £6 million investment programme both expanding and renewing many of the CT and MRI scanning and imaging facilities.
The Wellington Imaging Unit has a full range of state of the art equipment including the fastest 64-slice CT scanner available, two MRI scanners, a full range of X-Ray machines, Ultrasound equipment and Interventional Radiology facilities. The Unit is constantly working to improve and expand the services and has recently invested in a film-less system so doctors can view scans and X-rays etc on- line. This speeds up the time from diagnosis to treatment and ends delays caused by mislaid X-Rays.
The team
The Unit has a
team of 20 consultant radiologists, many of whom hold senior positions in some of London's renowned teaching hospitals, who are on hand to interpret and report on the results of a patient's CT scan, MRI scan, X-Ray or Ultrasound. They are backed by highly qualified specialist radiographers and nurses and a back office team who prepare reports of each diagnostic investigation.
MRI scanning at the Wellington
Magnetic Resonance Imaging uses a strong magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to produce detailed internal pictures of your body. Any part of your body can be imaged to assist in the diagnosis of your medical condition. For the majority of examinations no preparation is required.
Your MRI Scan will be interpreted by a Consultant Radiologist who specialises in Magnetic Resonance Imaging. This is usually done on the day of your scan. The report and the images are sent to your referring clinician the following day. You will be contacted by your referring clinician in due course to discuss the findings of this procedure.
