CT Scanning services

The LightSpeed VCT is the latest innovation in CT technology. VCT means "Volume CT"...ushering in a new era in CT imaging.

The hospital offers a full range of CT scans such as neuro, body, orthopaedic, cardiac, virtual endoscopy and CT angiography and also performs CT guided interventional procedures.

Colon screening

There is now another option to colonoscopy - a less invasive outpatient procedure which can be offered to patients as part of a colon cancer screening package

CT Colonography is designed to study the colon and surrounding anatomy, in order to detect polyps and lesions that could be indications of a colorectal cancer. CT can produce 2D and 3D images of the entire colon and rectum. It is less invasive than conventional colonoscopy and can be performed on an out-patient basis.

Cardiac CT scans

CT offers an alternative to conventional angiography for evaluation of the coronary arteries. It is a non-interventional procedure and will not require a stay in hospital. It is particularly suitable for patients who have cardiac type symptoms but who are otherwise at low risk of coronary artery disease.

Cardiac CT scans can be used to evaluate:
  • the coronary arteries
  • cardiac function
  • the pulmonary veins
  • the thoracic aorta
  • the pericardium

Patients for this procedure undergo a strict screening process and must fulfil certain criteria to ensure their suitability for this test.

Lung Nodule Screening using Low Dose CT

Lung cancer screening is only appropriate for patients with a high risk of lung cancer.

It is not appropriate for individuals who are at low risk of lung cancer as it is likely to do more harm than good.

This test acquires high resolution images of the lungs allowing the detection of "nodules" which would be too small for visualisation on a chest x-ray.
