Consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon Miss Samantha Tross is a specialist in minimally invasive hip surgery, hip resurfacing, primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery. She is one of a small but growing number of female orthopaedic surgeons. 

Experience

Miss Samantha Tross graduated from University College and Middlesex School of Medicine in 1992, by which time she decided to pursue a career in surgery. After her SHO rotation at the Royal London and Basildon Hospitals, she decided to pursue a career in orthopaedic surgery. She trained on the South East Thames (Guy's and St. Thomas's) rotation and completed orthopaedic training in 2004. Thereafter she was appointed as a locum Consultant Surgeon at Guy's and St. Thomas' hospital before her current substantive appointment at Ealing Hospital.

A member of the British Hip Society, Miss Tross has had Fellowship Training in lower limb arthroplasty from the world renowned Orthopaedic and Arthritic Institute, part of Sunnybrook and Women's College, Toronto, Canada, as well as the Peninsula Orthopaedic Institute in Sydney, Australia. Experience was gained in minimally invasive hip surgery, hip resurfacing, knee arthroscopy and computer navigated knee surgery in addition to standard primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. Since qualifying, Miss Tross has also trained in Hip Arthroscopy.

Miss Tross's current practice reflects her skills gained in her general orthopaedic training, where she has experience in diagnosing and implementing treatment on most orthopaedic pathologies.

As a recognised specialist knee replacement surgeon in the UK, Miss Tross has been featured on the AXA PPP healthcare website, in a knee replacement surgery video.

Miss Tross has been profiled in The Black Powerlist every year since 2011 by JP Morgan and was voted one of the 100 most influential Black Britons. She is also profiled in 'Samantha Tross: Orthopaedic surgeon' by Verna Wilkins, published by Tamarind Ltd and featured in 'Millennium People, the soul of our success' by Derek Burnett (Hibiscus Books, London).

Miss Tross was included in Tatler's Doctors Guide 2013 of Britain's top 250 Consultants by speciality in its February edition. She is now an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics to the American University of the Caribbean.
