Vik Sharma

Training and experience

Mr Vik Sharma graduated from St Bartholomew’s & The Royal London Hospital’s Medical College in 1996 and completed a BSc in Immunology at University College London. He undertook his specialist ophthalmology training in many of London’s prestigious teaching hospitals, including a Glaucoma Fellowship, and held the position of Glaucoma Specialist at King’s College and St Thomas’ Hospitals. He has also completed further training in oculoplastics at the Premier Facial Plastic Centre in Sarasota, Florida.

Mr Sharma has been a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust since 2007, where he is the clinical lead for glaucoma. As well as developing new laser treatments and surgical implants for better eye pressure control, he is currently developing a new modern glaucoma service for patients in North London.

Mr Sharma is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He is Honorary Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of London and sits on the Glaucoma Advisory Board for pharmaceuticals.

Expertise

Mr Sharma areas of expertise include cataract surgery and lens implantation, glaucoma surgery, eyelid surgery and retinal treatments, as well as general ophthalmology.

A Glaucoma and Cataract Specialist, he offers the latest state-of-the-art procedures, including non-penetrating surgical techniques and micro-tube implants, micro-pulse laser treatment and micro-incision cataract surgery with multifocal lens implantation. All quick, safe techniques that reduce trauma to the eye, leading to faster healing and decreased post treatment complications.

London Ophthalmology Centre

Mr Sharma is Clinical Director of the London Ophthalmology Centre, a gold standard modern surgical centre of excellence located in Queen Anne Street in London’s Harley Street District. Responsible for assessing most new patients, he works with a team of sub-specialty fellowship-trained consultant ophthalmic surgeons wherever necessary to ensure that every patient receives effective, bespoke treatment whatever their needs.
