Simon Jennings

Mr Simon Jennings, a fully trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon in London specialising in sports injuries and trauma surgery. To give a service to patients in North London he also consults at the Clementine Churchill Hospital. The majority of his operations are at the Princess Grace Hospital, a large private hospital in central London with fully equipped theatres, a high dependency unit and resident medical staff.

Mr Jennings trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London, gained a degree in Clinical Sciences at St Mary’s Hospital and Imperial College in 1991 and obtained his MBBS in 1992. After a fellowship year in knee surgery at the Wellington Hospital Knee Surgery Unit he was appointed to the higher surgical training rotation at University College and the Middlesex Hospitals. In 2004 he completed his orthopaedic training in London and at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore. He has been a consultant at Northwick Park Hospital since then.

Mr Jennings has a long history of working with elite athletes in Rugby Union (NEC Harlequins), Rugby League (London Crusaders / London Broncos / Harlequins RL) and the Great Britain Judo Team.

In cases where patients do not require surgery, he works closely with a multitude of therapists, including rheumatologists, physicians, physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths to ensure that each individual achieves the optimal service and outcome for their problem.

As an orthopaedic surgeon with a friendly approach, he is readily accessible and is keen to involve the patient in the whole process of treatment.

Latest techniques

Mr Jennings uses the latest surgical techniques and most-up-to-date technology to provide an expert service for people seeking treatment for hip complaints. He works closely with therapists from other specialties, such as physiotherapists and sports physicians, to optimise treatment and achieve the best possible outcome in terms of mobility and hip function for his patients.

Mr Jennings offers assessment, diagnosis and treatment of all conditions affecting the hip, including:

  • Knee Arthroscopy

Hip arthroscopy

The development of modern techniques and technology make it possible for Mr Jennings to examine the inside of the hip joint using a fibre optic camera (arthroscope). He is able to determine the source of any hip pain, such as damage to the cartilage, ligaments and bone and identify any structural or congenital deformity. This minimally invasive technique also allows Mr Jennings to perform a number of surgical procedures, including the repair of torn cartilage and the removal of loose pieces of bone, with quicker recovery times and less scarring for the patient.

Offering modern surgery

Improvements in surgical techniques and technology in recent years make hip replacement surgery one of the most effective surgeries performed in the UK today, enabling thousands of people to return to active lives. All artificial hips are now made from a combination of light weight biocompatible metal alloys, high grade plastics and modern ceramic materials, resulting in replacement hip joints that are long-lasting, strong, flexible and resistant to wear.

Mr Jennings is able to provide all the latest surgical techniques for repairing and replacing damaged hip joints, including total hip replacement, revision hip surgery, hip resurfacing and minimal incision hip replacement.
