Women advised to care for feet during festive season

Women have been advised to look after their feet during the festive season.

Part of this routine should include scrubbing feet every day to keep them "lovely and clean, soft and supple," said Emma Supple, foot specialist and podiatric surgeon.

However, she also advised going to see a specialist or a podiatrist "to find out what it is you inherited that really is invaluable".

"You inherit your feet from your parents, you can't change your bunion tendency etc, so it's very important to remember that you have one pair of feet for your life so you need to look after them," she explained.

The comments follow a survey conducted by Debenhams, which revealed that over 90 per cent of the British women's shoe market is now dominated by fashion statement shoes.

This is down to the fact that technology has enabled shoes with high heels and other elaborate additions to withstand the "rigors of everyday wear".
