Westfield rewarded for 90 years of excellence

Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce has awarded a special certificate to Westfield Health to mark its 90th anniversary.

A patron of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber, Westfield started out as the Sheffield Consultative and Advisory Hospitals Council in 1919. The ‘penny in the pound’ scheme – the forerunner of today’s health cash plan – was formed to help workers access free hospital treatment in return for a weekly contribution of a penny.

Ninety years on, the company now provides healthcare plans for more than a third of a million policyholders throughout the UK, and more than 9000 organisations nationally operate a Westfield plan for their employees.

Westfield’s Chamber Primary Health Plan is the official health cash plan of the British Chambers of Commerce.

Andrew Denniff of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber Policy says, “The certificate is recognition not only of our excellent relationship with Westfield, which goes back many years, but also the organisation’s 90th anniversary. While the certificate rewards Westfield for its longevity, it also salutes the company’s excellence in business in the region over that period.”
