Westfield’s support gets athlete scheme up and running

Westfield Health has become the first South Yorkshire based business to provide financial backing to a unique scheme supporting elite sports stars from the University of Sheffield.

The Elite Sport Performance Scheme was launched by the University of Sheffield in October 2010 with the aim of providing its elite athletes, all of whom represent their country, with the support needed to ensure they can be successful in the sporting arena whilst also achieving academic excellence.

There are currently 28 athletes on the programme, with at least one hoping to represent Britain at the London Olympics in 2012.
