Top surgeon assesses anti-ageing cosmetic surgery

A top US surgeon has assessed the current cosmetic surgery treatments available for getting rid of signs of ageing around the eyes.

Dr Kenneth Steinsapir, a cosmetic surgeon in Los Angeles, claimed that Restylane injections could achieve similar results to surgery.

He made his comments in this month's issue of Harper's Bazaar while discussing the options people can consider when trying to get rid of dark circles or bagginess around the eyes.

"You get almost immediate results that are as good as and in many cases better than, what can be accomplished with surgery," he added.

As well as Restylane, Dr Steinsapir developed Microdroplet BOTOX, although the patent is still pending on the latter treatment.

A recent study by a surgery group in London showed that eye bag removal is the most popular treatment for teachers to undergo, with 48 per cent of people in the profession electing to get corrective surgery.
