Tesco backs charity campaign with ATM donations

Tesco Personal Finance is giving customers the opportunity to support the Tesco Charity of the Year, Muscular Dystrophy Campaign, just by using a cash machine at Tesco.

For every transaction made using a cash machine until the end of February 2010, the company will make a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign's Giving children equipment to be independent appeal, which aims to raise £3 million to fund vital, specialist equipment for children with muscular dystrophy.

Muscular dystrophy is a devastating, incurable and life-limiting condition that causes muscles to waste away, making children progressively weaker and preventing them from performing simple tasks that we take for granted, such as turning the pages of a book or brushing their hair. It is estimated that over 8,000 babies and children in the UK have muscular dystrophy or a related muscle wasting disease. There is no cure for the condition.
