Strictly star says new teeth gave career a kiss of life

Strictly Come Dancing star Ricky Whittle has become the hot early favourite to win this year's competition - thanks to a smile makeover.

The Hollyoaks hunk, who regularly tops 'sexiest male body' polls, puts his success down to his new smile after undergoing dental treatment to boost his confidence.

"I have always hated my smile and was very conscious of my teeth when I was growing up, even before I saw them on TV. That just made it worse -- my dodgy smile was now 42-inches wide!" admits Ricky. "I suppose that's why I was always cast in roles that were more serious or moody."

"But Strictly is all about confidence, appearance and lots of smiling. I don't think I could have entered Strictly if I hadn't had some dental work done, unless I stuck to the serious dances. I'm having so much fun and now I can show it."

Ricky turned to award-winning dentist Kailesh Solanki of Kissdental in Manchester to sort out his smile.

Ricky had a full set of veneers fitted to his top teeth and is due to have the bottom set corrected at Kissdental when his Strictly commitments are complete.

"They say a smile goes a long way," says Ricky. "It has given me so much confidence, and now that I can smile on the outside as well as the inside, I'm a much happier person."
