Standard Life plans to go public in July

Leading insurer, Standard Life, once one of the staunchest defenders of mutuality, has taken two major steps to becoming a public company.

Shareholders and The Court of Sessions in Scotland have both recently given approval for Standard Life to demutualise.

The Edinburgh-based mutual insurer plans to float the company on the London Stock Exchange by the end of July.
