People looking to lose weight could be motivated by the Rosemary Conley Slimmer of the Year Awards which are being held in London today (January 5th).
The awards have been split into categories, including the 40+ Slimmer of the Year, Male Slimmer of the Year, Action Woman Slimmer of the Year and Mr and Mrs Slimmer of the Year.
In total, the eight award winning slimmers lost 77 stone, with one woman losing over 14 stone.
Bridie Coulter from Northern Ireland shed the weight after being warned by her doctor that she could die within the year if she didn't do something about her size.
Ms Coulter, who went from a dress size 34 to a healthy size 10, will be awarded £1,000 cash for her achievement, as will the other slimmers.
Obese people requiring gastric bypass surgery are often required to partake in diets and exercise in order to be at a safe weight prior to their operation.
