Simplyhealth sponsors The Secret Millionaire

Simplyhealth is sponsoring the 2010 run of the television series The Secret Millionaire on Channel 4.  In the programme, millionaire benefactors leave their luxury lifestyles to go undercover and help some of those living in the UK's most deprived areas.

The programme showcases just how committed people across the UK already donate their time and energy to do their bit for others.

Episode summaries

Episode 1, March 1: Multi-millionaire Dawn Gibbins went undercover in Bristol, visiting parts of the city that rate as some of the most deprived areas of south west England. In total, Dawn gave away over £250,000 to Bristol-based charities, with donations made to:

  • The Crisis Centre, which helps street people and others who have experienced life-disrupting events
  • Hartcliffe and Withywood Teenage Parents Project set up to provide practical, emotional, and mentoring support for teenage parents
  • One25, which exists to help women engaged in street sex work break free and build new lives

Episode 2, March 8: Paul Ragan, the next millionaire, went to Derby looking to help those who devote their lives to caring for others.
