Spire Healthcare is continuing to expand into local areas through satellite clinics. In the last year, four new clinics have opened in Newcastle, Hale, Bury and Whitstable. They are:
Spire Washington Hospital recently agreed a three year deal to lease part of a well-known private healthcare facility in Newcastle.
Newcastle Clinic in Jesmond is a mile away from a major competitor in one of the most affluent areas of the North East. The arrangement came about as the parties already had a relationship relating to the use of the clinic’s open MRI scanner. At a meeting to formalise an agreement for the transfer of patients requiring MRI, Spire Washington ended up with a three year lease for the rental of two consulting rooms and a treatment room.
The hospital has 17 consultants working at the clinic. The specialties offered include orthopaedics, cosmetic, weight loss and urology. Any patient who visits the clinic has their out-patient consultation and diagnostics in Newcastle and is transferred to the Spire Washington Hospital for any procedure required.
Spire Manchester Clinic Hale is located in renovated premises above a bank in the leafy surrounds of fashionable Hale, to the south west of Manchester city centre. It is equipped with ultrasound and X-ray facilities, three consulting rooms – one with an attached treatment room – and has been designed to a high specification to add a ‘wow factor’ for local residents, businesses and the 24 nearby GP practices. Locally there is a strong demographic of wealthy professional families who don’t want to disrupt their working day or schooling schedules, so the clinic is open in the evening throughout the week and also on Saturday mornings.
Hale is also an ideal location for our consultants, many of whom live locally. The clinic enjoyed a grand opening at a local celebrity chef’s restaurant, which gave the hospital the opportunity to impress both GPs and consultants, as they forged new business connections and renewed acquaintances.
Finally, the opening of the clinic has provided the hospital with the opportunity to secure practising slots for two of South Manchester’s most respected consultants, who have significant private practices but had previously chosen not to work with Spire Manchester Hospital.
Spire North Manchester Clinic is located in the suburbs of Bury, within a GP practice complex, and aims to capture patients with private medical insurance from nearby Oldham and to provide better access to consultation services for the loyal customer base in Prestwich and Whitefield.
Spire Whitstable Clinic
The Spire Whitstable Clinic opened in August 2010 at the Whitstable Medical Practice. The clinic is run by consultants from the Spire St Saviour’s Hospital in Hythe and the partnership came about as a result of the relationship between the GPs at the Whitstable Medical Practice and Spire St Saviour’s. The services currently available at the clinic include gynaecology, orthopaedics and urology with more services to be added in the future.
The clinic also has X-ray facilities on site and is looking to set up an MRI service later in the year. Although it was initially opened for NHS patients through the Choose and Book system, it will shortly be offering consultations for private patients as well.
