Obesity treatment could minimise risk of problems

Zeal Health

People who fail to keep their weight at a sensible level could be leaving themselves at an increased risk of a number of conditions in future.

That is according to nutritionist for Zeal Health Helena Oades, who suggested that many people do not currently understand the kind of foods that they should be consuming in order to maximise healthiness, something that could prompt some to find out more about obesity treatment.

"Heart disease and diabetes are two of the most serious health concerns associated with obesity. Joint problems and lack of mobility can often arise as well," she said.

Ms Oades added that many people "simply don’t understand" the ways in which weight and health can be impacted by the kind of diet they have.

The comments follow recent research conducted by Bupa, which indicated that more than one third (35 per cent) of British people between the ages of 45 and 54 are obese.
