Chesham and Amersham MP The Rt Hon Cheryl Gillan paid a visit to BMI The Chiltern Hospital
in Great Missenden where she met and chatted with staff and patients.
She was shown around the hospital’s oncology suite, the physiotherapy facility with its own hydrotherapy pool and the Diagnostic Imaging Department where she had the opportunity to see at close quarters the hospital’s recently-acquired 128 slice CT scanner. The scanner has revolutionised non-invasive diagnosis of tumours, lung and heart diseases and blood flow problems and is being used by both private and NHS patients.
As the MP for the area for nearly 20 years, Mrs Gillan has paid previous visits to the hospital. She said: “I was very impressed by the facilities at BMI The Chiltern and the investment that has been made by BMI Healthcare.
“I am delighted that our local private hospital is also making such a terrific contribution to the NHS, helping to relieve the enormous workload of the NHS and offering NHS patients a real choice of where they can be treated.
“This is a good example of private health facilities working with the NHS to provide high standards of healthcare for everyone.”
After the visit Adrian Peake, Executive Director at BMI The Chiltern said: “It was a pleasure to meet Mrs Gillan and I was delighted to be able to show her the state of the art facilities we have to offer here. She seemed very impressed with what she saw and we will certainly be keeping in touch.”
