It has been suggested that taking regular exercise could reduce the risk of developing breast
cancer.
Arlene Wilkie, director of research and policy at Breast Cancer Campaign, said that women could make some lifestyle changes in order to reduce their chances of having the disease.
"There is growing evidence that leading a healthy lifestyle, including being physically active and maintaining a healthy body weight, is really important for our wellbeing," she said.
"Frequent exercise has been shown to lower the risk of breast cancer therefore any regular physical activity, including walking, swimming and even housework, will help to improve your fitness and reduce your risk."
The comments come as a study conducted by the World Cancer Research Fund found that 5,500 cases of breast cancer in the UK could be avoided if people were to undertake regular moderate physical activity.
Ms Wilkie added that the government should focus on promoting the awareness of risk factors when it comes to the disease.
