A new
sexual health treatment for men who suffer from erectile dysfunction (ED) involves fewer side effects than current treatments for the condition, according to a new study.
Drugs such as Viagra and Cialis have been successful in helping a lot of men's sexual health but they have been known to cause unpleasant side effects, particularly to those have had heart problems.
Research by Dr Joel Friedman and his son Dr Adam Friedman has shown that using nanotechnology in topical therapy has produced a successful result in experiments on animals, so they are now looking at how to use it on humans.
Dr Joel Friedman said: "The response time to the nanoparticles was very short, just a few minutes, which is basically what people want in an ED medication."
The study was carried out at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva and appears in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.
Topical therapy is when a medication such as a cream or ointment is applied to the skin.
