Creating a filling or a crown is faster and more efficient thanks to technological advances in cosmetic dentistry, according to a technician.
Robert Grammer, a dentist from Olmos Park Cosmetic Dentistry, claimed that the whole process of creating and fitting the pieces to teeth can now be completed in less than two hours, reported Wendy Rigby for KENS 5 in San Antonio.
He commented that he uses a system called CEREC, which utilises 3D imaging to scan the tooth, then creates a porcelain implant that he pointed out can be fitted immediately.
"We can restore 90 per cent to 100 per cent of its original tooth strength, whereas an old technology filling might restore back to 75 per cent," Mr Grammer told the website.
He went on to describe the process as the ultimate customised tooth restoration, which creates crowns and fillings that can last more than 20 years.
This week, a British dentist said that the cosmetic dentistry sector has plenty of growth potential in the UK compared with other countries.
