Simon and Sara Burgess, founders of income protection specialist British Insurance, have found a home for some of the fortune they got for selling their company last year.
The British Life Office, based in Tunbridge Wells, was established in 1896 and was acquired by Reliance Mutual in 1958, but the brand has been dormant since 2004.
The company has been sold to the Burgesses. They plan to re-launch it as an insurer of life and various income protection products. Sales will be direct and via intermediaries.
