Vast majority of Brits scared of dentists
New research suggests that 93 per cent of British people are scared of going to the dentist, suggesting that many may need corrective dental treatment because of their failure to go for regular check-ups.

A survey of more than 1,500 dental patients by the Cosmetic Dentistry Guide also showed that men tend to be nervier than women, and many refuse to confront their fears and instead shun dental appointments.

Dr Kalpesh Bohara, who provides advice for people who are anxious about visiting a dentist, commented: "Everyone knows that some people are scared of visiting the dentist but I don't think anyone realises the true extent of the problem.

"I would say it is the main cause of dental problems in the UK today."

However, Dr Kailesh Solanki, from Kissdental clinic, said that people have nothing to fear.

He revealed: "A trip to the dentist can be like a relaxing spa treatment. We have chill-out lounges, massages, DVD glasses, even a champagne bar. What's there to be scared of?"
