Almost half of British travellers have admitted to making a claim on their travel insurance, new research has discovered.
Research from TripAdvisor has found from a study of 3,700 travellers from around the world that 45% of British tourists have at some point had to claim on their travel insurance, compared to only 29% of travellers from other destinations.
Of those that have made a claim, 22% found it a frustrating process running through their problems, while 26 % found that it took a long time to tell their travel insurance company of their claim.
Other problems that Brits found a hindrance when making a claim, included 23% finding it simply annoying dealing with the claims department and the highest majority, 31%, finding it a hassle to substantiate their claim.
However, despite all these issues only 14% had ever been denied a claim.
And while travel insurance provides protection for many families when something goes wrong on holiday, there is a danger of it is being pushed to the bottom of a financial pile for holidaymakers. This is a false economy.
