The Financial Ombudsman Service will name the insurers that receive the most complaints from next year. At present the Financial Ombudsman Service only publishes information about the type of complaints it receives, without identifying specific companies, but this policy will change from 2009.
A spokeswoman for the FOS says: "Because of their market share the largest businesses inevitably provide the majority of cases we receive. But there is a significant and consistent difference in the number of cases, and the proportion upheld, between some large businesses and others. It is hoped that this information will influence consumers when buying financial products.”
