A growing number of new mums are turning to
cosmetic surgery to help regain their pre-pregnancy figure, according to surgeons.
As well as the procedures becoming more popular, it seems that patients are also becoming happier to talk about their cosmetic surgery, with the public no longer thinking it is something to be ashamed of.
"Most of our
tummy tuck patients and
breast surgery patients are mothers who want to restore their youthful shape," revealed Lesi Beamon Mackey, administrator at a plastic surgery practice.
"And, with the increasing awareness of plastic surgery, we find more are discussing their surgeries publicly," she added.
In addition, cosmetic surgery is increasingly being regarded as a special treat and some UK clinics are now offering special packages for newly divorced women as a way of making them feel better about themselves.
Transform Cosmetic Surgery Group recently announced details of its 'post-divorce pick-me-up' which, according to marketing director Liz Dale, is specifically designed to boost self-confidence.
"With an increased demand for total makeovers following the end of marriages, Transform is proposing a combination of
breast enhancement,
liposuction,
teeth whitening and botox," she told the Daily Mail.
Ms Dale revealed that breast enhancement and liposuction are the most popular operations among divorcees, followed by facial surgery such as
eye bag removal.
"We have also seen a marked increase in the number of women who have just come out of relationships exploring non-surgical procedures, including botox, facial peels and dermal fillers to give them the self-assurance they need to return to the dating game," she added.
