Following their move into the UK in November last year, leading Australian private hospital operator Ramsay Health Care is rebranding their UK units on 26 January – Australia Day.
Ramsay joined the UK health care market by acquiring Capio Healthcare UK, with a network of 22 independent hospitals, nine Independent Sector Treatment Centres, a Harley Street clinic, neurological rehabilitation centres and diagnostic imaging services. The group is now operating as Ramsay Health Care UK, with the existing UK management team remaining in place.
Ramsay’s UK units will continue to operate under their local names, and are taking the opportunity on Australia Day to mark the change of ownership. Ramsay-branded external signage is being erected outside each unit for 26 January, with new patient information and promotional materials available from this day. The Ramsay group have also taken the opportunity to update their website at www.ramsayhealth.com. The UK site at www.ramsayhealth.co.uk has been completely redesigned, and includes information on how NHS, privately insured and self-pay patients can access Ramsay’s services across the UK.
David Hillier, Ramsay Health Care UK Chief Executive, says that the change of ownership will not affect patient care, but will provide real opportunities for growth: “We are proud to be part of the Ramsay group, whose 43 years of health care experience in Australia will be an invaluable asset to developments in the UK. Ramsay’s philosophy of ‘people caring for people’ fits in extremely well with our commitment to treating both NHS and private patients, and to the high level of health care professionalism offered in all of our units.”
Pat Grier, Managing Director of Ramsay Health Care, commented: “We spent significant time investigating the right acquisition in the UK for Ramsay and found a good strategic fit. We now have a quality group of UK hospitals led by a strong management team, which provides a solid platform for our expansion in both the UK and Europe.”
