One in three travel insurance claims due to winter sports

Research from personal injury specialist, the Paul Rooney Partnership, says that one third of all travel insurance claims are the result of winter sports accidents.

Injuries caused on ski slopes account for the largest proportion of such claims, with a sharp distinction being drawn between casualties arising from snowboarding and from skiing. Skiers are most likely to injure their knees or thumbs, while snowboarders tend to sustain a wider range of ailments including trauma to the wrist, forearm and ankle.

Skiing is growing in popularity among the British, especially young men with limited prior experience. So it is crucial that people planning on having a winter break this season ensure they take out adequate travel insurance. Compared to a beach holiday, the chances of injury are considerably higher, so it's especially important that skiers and snowboarders take out a good insurance policy that will cover them in the event of an accident on the slopes.
