Consultant Dietitian Sian Shepherd who works at BMI The Kings Oak and Cavell Hospitals in Enfield has received praise from Raymond Blanc, one of the Britain’s most respected chefs, following her advisory work on the BBC1 TV series, Kitchen Secrets.
Prior to each episode, show Sian provided Raymond, with the nutritional analysis of his recipes and helped to outline the nutritional benefits, healing and protective qualities of many of the ingredients. Following her work on the show Raymond commented, "Sian Shepherd was a fount of information for me and my team as we worked on Kitchen Secrets. Almost every day when she was with us we drew on her expertise on diet and nutrition – and found she had as much to say about metabolising calories as about taking them in. I can see why she is qualified to treat patients with such an immense variety of nutrition, diet, and exercise-related problems. I would certainly feel happy and secure to follow her advice on any matter to do with any of these."
Sian, a joint winner of a prestigious 2010 Sustain ‘Good Food on the Public Plate’ award, is a firm believer that ‘we are what we eat’ and advocates that her patients should wherever possible source local, seasonal ingredients. Speaking on her time providing input into the show she comments: “It was an absolute pleasure to work alongside a man whose work is the epitome of artistic imagination and exquisite taste. At a time when we are turning more and more to pre- packaged high fat foods it was inspirational to work on a show that delivered credible, nutritious recipes to cooks of all abilities.”
