Individuals and small underwritten groups can benefit significantly from Allianz Worldwide Care as it now offers cover for an extended range of pre-existing medical and dental conditions that would previously have been excluded from cover under its international health insurance policies.
The company has recently extended its underwriting guidelines to offer cover for a much wider range of pre-existing conditions, with the possible inclusion of a surcharge.
To assist in this enhanced underwriting process, Allianz Worldwide Care has invested in AktuarMed, the first knowledge-driven underwriting system for health insurance. The system, which was designed by actuaries and underwriters, bases calculations on its morbidity database of over 50 million lives.
Dr. Ulrike Sucher at Allianz Worldwide Care comments: “We are regularly adding further pre-existing conditions to the list of those we can underwrite. Traditionally, the international health insurance industry has not tended to provide cover for the majority of pre-existing conditions and until recently the policies available would have either excluded cover for pre-existing conditions or only provided cover after a waiting period, if cover was offered at all.”
