Women are at their happiest when they are slim

It’s a question that’s plagued mankind for centuries, what really makes a woman happy? Perhaps it’s finding true love or the man of their dreams or perhaps, as new research suggests it’s finding their ideal weight and size.

According to a 24 year long study by the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin, the size and weight a woman is plays a large part in determining how happy they are, with weight having a greater effect on their attitude than their love life.

The report found that being overweight or obese led to more misery and suffering than being single, but that women at their ideal weight and size were happier and more satisfied than they would be if they were in a relationship.

A good home life was also found to be more important than an exciting career and being social and exercising were also the key to living a long a happy life.

Experts have warned that the stigma surrounding overweight people has infiltrated almost every aspect of daily life, playing a huge part in determining a person’s happiness.

Those who are unhappy with their weight can visit The Hospital Group who provide a range of weight loss surgery procedures in state-of-the-art facilities that are second to none.

The Hospital Group is the UK’s biggest provider of weight loss surgery, including gastric bands, gastric bypasses and gastric balloons which can give you a healthier lifestyle.

David Ross, Chief Executive of The Hospital Group said: “For many people being overweight can lead to feelings of low self esteem, a loss of confidence and in some severe cases depression.

“Thoughts of being overweight can dominate a person’s mind causing them to worry about their appearance and the serious health risks of their lifestyle such as high blood pressure and strokes. Bariatric surgery can change a person’s life for the better helping them to live a healthier and fuller life as well as restoring confidence and self esteem.
