Laughter 'a therapy for stress'

Laughter 'a therapy for stress'

It has been suggested that laughter can be a good therapy for the treatment of stress.

A recent article in Post Crescent claimed that the therapy has been known to boost the immune system, reduce stress hormones, increase muscle relaxation and lower blood pressure.

One woman shared her positive experience of the treatment with the news source.

Massage therapist Asja Graper told the site that she was able to deal with a number of deaths in her family due to laughter therapy, noting that she saw it as "a self-help".

"My son died on the first Sunday in May in his car accident, and the first Sunday in May is World Laughter Day," she added.

"So I thought this is a tribute, a positive thing that I can bring into my life."

The therapist set up her own therapy sessions after her positive experience, encouraging participants to learn how to laugh freely.
