While claiming that most pupils now get personal finance education of some sort, the authorities fail to mention that it is hidden away in citizenship, maths or other areas - and that there are few resources to help teachers with an unfamiliar area.
LifeSearch has initiated a petition to start personal finance lessons in all UK schools.
The national curriculum currently has no co-ordinated plan for personal finance education.
Matt Morris of LifeSearch says, "Proper education means consumers of the future will be much more aware of how to handle their money and will better understand the basics of financial planning and products."
The petition can be found on Gordon Brown’s own website!
