The future of cosmetic surgery to be discussed

Plastic surgeons will gather in Baltimore next month to discuss the evolving nature of the industry, it has been reported.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons' (ASPS) annual meeting, which is expected to be attended by around 6,000 doctors, medical personnel and exhibitors in the plastic surgery field from across the globe, will be held in the Maryland state city from the 26th to the 31st of October.

According to ASPS president Roxanne Guy there is heightening interest in cosmetic surgery - particularly for less invasive procedures.

"There is increasing consumer demand for non- and minimally-invasive procedures not only for the face, but for all areas of the body," he confirmed.

"The world's top plastic surgeons will assemble to discuss the safety and effectiveness of emerging treatments such as non-invasive fat-melting procedures and quality-of-life-enhancing peripheral nerve surgeries that will allow amputees to better move prosthetics."

As well as discussing new topics, the latest innovations will also be assessed at the conference, Dr Guy said.
