Legal &General is supporting Everyman during November 2011, in a month dedicated to raising funds and awareness of prostate cancer.
Everyman is a campaign that was launched by The Institute of Cancer Research in 1997, to raise money for its research into prostate and testicular cancer.
Legal & General is donating £10 to Everyman for every life insurance, life insurance with critical illness or Over 50's life insurance policy taken out during November by online direct customers and by employees of Legal & General.
Each year 37,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer, with one man dying every hour from the disease. Sadly, prostate cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in men after lung cancer and accounts for around 12% of male deaths from cancer.
Nick Frankland at Legal & General says," Prostate cancer has overtaken lung cancer as the most common cancer in men, largely due to a number of cases being diagnosed and the impact of an ageing population. Men are well known for not wanting to discuss health matters so we hope this campaign will raise both awareness and valuable money into further research to help find a cure for this disease".
