UK workers 'stressed'

stress at work

A recent survey has revealed that a "worryingly high number of employees" in the UK are stressed at work.

Conducted by Badenoch & Clark, the study found that 84 per cent of people are stressed at work and 14 per cent feel 'very' or 'extremely' stressed.

Ann McCracken, chair of the International Stress Management Association, said that individuals can identify stress in themselves or those around them by noting changes in behaviour.

She explained: "Instead of being relaxed, comfortable and in control, you feel out of control, irritable, angry or annoyed.

"You start perhaps becoming withdrawn instead of being outgoing, dishevelled, not looking after your appearance, eating badly, putting on weight, losing weight - lots of changed behaviours in various emotional, behavioural and physical ways."

However, while the research figures remain high they have fallen from this time last year, when 93 per cent of UK workers were found to be struggling with stress.
