Clinicians, nurses, staff and patients celebrated the opening of the newly refurbished private patient wing of the Kingston Hospital NHS Trust at a launch reception.
The overhaul, the first at the 22-bed Coombe Wing since it opened in 1994, was made possible by a capital investment by the wing’s management, private hospital group BMI Healthcare, and included the refurbishment of consulting rooms, reception and patient waiting areas as well as new equipment installed in the physiotherapy department and the addition of a dedicated mother and baby suite.
BMI Healthcare was awarded the contract to manage the Coombe Wing in October 2009 and has since spent over a quarter of a million pounds refurbishing and modernising the unit to provide an additional centre of medical excellence on the Kingston Hospital site for patients in the South West London and Surrey region.
General Manager at the BMI Coombe Wing Graham Allen commented: “This investment has not only provided the Coombe Wing’s patients with an improvement to the services available to them but also dramatically improved the environment in which these services are delivered. Service quality and hospital environment are both optimal in providing the highest level of patient care, and the patients, consultants, nurses and hospital staff have all so far reacted positively to this investment. We feel proud to be working alongside Kingston Hospital NHS Trust and are confident that we can help support their goals of promoting the growth and development of the Hospitals services within the local area.”
Kate Grimes, Chief Executive of Kingston Hospital NHS Trust said “The newly refurbished facilities at Coombe Wing look fantastic and we are very pleased that BMI has made this investment.”
