Cosmetic surgery 'increasingly popular among men'

The Hospital Group

Cosmetic surgery is being carried out on an increasingly large number of men, it has been suggested.

Recent figures published by cosmetic surgery provider The Hospital Group revealed that there has been a 117 per cent increase in liposuction procedures alone between 2009 and 2010.

Many men were found to have undergone the procedure in order to get rid of unwanted love handles.

However, hair transplants and ear reshaping were also high up on the list of cosmetic surgery procedures undergone by men in 2010.

Ear reshaping saw a 92 per cent increase in popularity, while the number of men interested in hair transplants rose by 49 per cent.

David Ross, chief executive of The Hospital Group, commented: "We have seen a large increase in the amount of men looking to improve their appearance.

"It's no longer predominantly women who take pride in the way they look, men are also keen to make the best of themselves."
