Three schools in Dumfries and Galloway will win hundreds of pounds-worth of book tokens on the back of a new competition.
Scottish Book Trust and sponsor Scottish Friendly are offering one winner £50 book tokens plus £250-worth of books for their school and two runners up will each receive £100-worth of books for their schools, to encourage pupils to get more excited about reading and writing.
The competition coincides with a visit to Dumfries and Galloway by David Roberts, popular Scottish children’s picture book author and illustrator. David will be captivating primary school children across the region as part of the hugely popular Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour from December 6 to 10. Roberts’ picture books and illustrations are adored by children throughout the UK and beyond, with his books having sold in over 15 countries. He is particularly well known for his fabulously funny Dirty Bertie books and he is a former winner of the Nestlé Children’s Book Prize Gold Award for his line drawings in Mouse Noses on Toast.
The Scottish Friendly Children’s Book Tour aims to encourage a love of reading and promote literacy to children, particularly in rural and remote areas. For many years the tour has provided a unique opportunity for children in Scotland to meet a variety of highly inspiring authors and illustrators.
