Chelsea right back Jose Bosingwa faces an extended layoff after learning that he must undergo knee surgery
to help cure a troublesome injury.
The Portuguese star has not played since the Premiership leaders lost 2-1 away to Aston Villa on October 17th.
However, the defender is desperate to get the problem sorted as soon as possible in order to be fit for the World Cup in South Africa next summer, the Daily Mirror reported.
"It's all up to the doctors, but I'll accept the best solution," the newspaper reported him as saying.
However, the former Boavista and Porto man may face a tough task getting back into the Chelsea side on his return.
The blues have won five of their last six games, which also included a 2-2 draw with an Athletico Madrid side over which they enjoyed a five-goal aggregate head start.
Since Bosingwa's injury, the London club have scored 20 goals, conceding only just two.
