Norwich Union Healthcare: psychiatric benefit

Norwich Union Healthcare is enhancing policy benefits on outpatient treatment for acute psychiatric conditions.

Affecting all policies with outpatient psychiatric benefit, the streamlined referral process ensures a speedier and more efficient claims process for customers. Customers can receive benefit for an acute psychiatric condition by referral from their GP directly to a recognised therapist. As specialist intervention is not always needed in less serious cases, customers no longer need to see a specialist first; this speeds up the time from seeing their GP to receiving the treatment they need.

As well as ensuring the referral process is more efficient and cost effective, the changes to Norwich Union Healthcare's policies sees the introduction of criteria for therapist recognition which gives customers added confidence that their treatment will be administered by appropriately qualified therapists.
