New travel insurance for people with cancer and genetic disease

Fiona Macrae has teamed up with specialist underwriter Travel Insurance Facilities (TIF) to launch web based to provide affordable travel insurance for those suffering from cancer, chromosome and genetic disorders.

People suffering from genetic disease are often regarded by most travel insurers as uninsurable or are charged expensive premiums.

Fiona Macrae believes individuals should be rated purely on their actual medical condition and not the perceived risk, “Insurance companies are using outdated sets of criteria to calculate the risk profile of those suffering from breast cancer and other conditions including chromosome and genetic disorders. By working with specialist underwriters we have produced a sympathetic medical screening system, based on an understanding of the individual’s medical condition and premiums calculated on the actual risk, not the perceived risk.”

Insurancewith will donate £1 for every travel insurance policy sold, to charities that are offering support and advice on the conditions it is covering.
