New BMI medical consulting rooms in Dorset

New medical consulting rooms have opened at Shelley Manor Medical Centre in Boscombe. BMI The Harbour Hospital in Poole and Shelley Manor Medical Centre are working in partnership to offer a new development in local healthcare provision. The outpatients consulting rooms are an extension of the acute healthcare services already being offered at BMI The Harbour Hospital.

The venue will also be used for educational meetings for GPs across the Bournemouth area, which are organised by BMI The Harbour Hospital. The new outpatient facilities were opened for business at a launch night which included a gathering of consultants, GPs and staff from BMI The Harbour Hospital who enjoyed a glass of champagne to mark the occasion.

Shelley Manor on Beechwood Avenue is one of the oldest buildings in Bournemouth, dating from 1802 and was the seaside home of the literary Shelley family, which included Mary Shelley who wrote the gothic novel 'Frankenstein'. The building has been sympathetically restored to its former glory.

Mr Andrew Clarke and Mr Taz Qureshi, both Laparoscopic General Surgeons who practice at BMI The Harbour Hospital in Poole, will be using the new consulting rooms. Mr Clarke said: “We’re both very much looking forward to using the fantastic facilities at Shelley Manor.”

Dan Stonell, Executive Director at BMI The Harbour Hospital said: “This significantly enhances the servicesavailable at BMI The Harbour Hospital. Patients in Boscombe, Bournemouth, Christchurch and the surrounding areas now have greater access to a wider range of private healthcare. We have taken the decision to move into Boscombe following discussions with patients, consultants and other healthcare professionals. It was felt that having an outpatient facility in this area, people who have become use to the high standards of BMI The Harbour Hospital can continue to use our services, but in a location that is closer to home. We are really excited about our new venture and look forward to serving the people of Bournemouth and Boscombe.
