More people buying travel insurance online

Research by travel insurance specialist, World First Travel Insurance says that more than 50% of their past customers choose to buy their travel insurance policy online, direct with their chosen insurer.

The research, which was carried out by independent research company, PFA Research, targeted more than 600 people throughout the UK who had previously insured with World First Travel Insurance.

The research was carried out to monitor trends in booking patterns. World First Travel Insurance has seen a steep incline in online bookings over six months and wanted to establish if this was at the cost of other, more traditional methods of buying travel insurance.

Respondents were asked how they usually bought their travel insurance and they were able to select up to two answers.

In total 63 % said they buy their travel insurance online, a staggering 51 % said they would buy it direct with their chosen insurer with just 12 % buying through a price comparison site.

Martin Rothwell of World First Travel Insurance says, "We have noticed that more people are buying travel insurance online. With the improved online medical screening facilities now available, people are finding it even easier to provide all of their details via an online application."
