New travel insurance consumer guide
To make choosing a policy easier this summer, the ABI has issued guidance on what is commonly covered in standard travel insurance policies and what may not be covered.
The top three things to think about when buying travel insurance:
-
The travel insurance market is very competitive. However, the cheapest policy is not always the best as they often provide the least cover. Shop around and ensure the policy covers your individual needs
-
You must disclose medical conditions to insurers so they can confirm if the policy will cover any emergency treatment you may need abroad, or whether a tailored policy would be better suited
-
Do not do anything on holiday that you would not normally do at home. Remain safe and do not take unnecessary risks. Drink or drug-related incidents could invalidate a claim.
